Unknown Deli Olive # 7

This is the last of the unknown deli olives! Overall, this olive was sub-average. I'd give it about a 5.5. It was very soft, mushy even. And while it was okay, it was mushy enough for me to feel like it was rotten. It was also really wrinkly.  This olive was surprisingly vinegary, about an 8. It didn't have very much of a sweet flavor, but it was there if you looked for it, so i'd give that about a 5. The saltiness of this olive is really the only reason that I gave it a sub average score. As is obvious, from my name, I love salt. I am a saltaholic. And this olive lacked salt to the degree that I had to eat two of them to even tell if it was salty. I'd give it about a 3, because it was there, but it was such a minor flavor, it doesn't really count as being there. And not being salty is outrageous. It's why I like olives. I couldn't knock down the score very much, because that really was the only big flaw, but I found it frustrating  It had a size of about 8, which was nice, because the bigger the better. I'd also like to note that this is another olive that has caused my poor mouth to suffer. from having a sharp pit. I think I need to just start expecting a sharp pit from any olive that is ovular instead of round. That was I can avoid having my mouth be poked when I'm trying to enjoy my olive.  And I do have to give this olive credit where credit is due. It had an awesome aftertaste. It was mild, but definitely present, and had a slightly herby taste to it.

Unknown Deli Olive #6

This olive smelled awesome, and I was really exited to eat it. And the fact that I was exited to eat an olive is...concerning. I'm a little too obsessed with salt. Anywho  the smell was disappointing  because the olive tasted like a generic olive, except blander, and with a little bit of herby and oily because of the oil and herb bits it was sitting in in the dish. Well, actually it was really oily, but that wasn't the olive's fault...Great, now I'm personifying olives. I would also like to note that the pit was slightly sharp  which i/ almost always view as a disadvantage  this olive wasn't particularly salty, or sweet or, vinegary, or anything. In fact it was below the average on all of them. It got a 6 for salt, and a 5 fro vinegariness and sweetness. It got a size of six, and a quality of 8 because of the dents it had in it, but they didn't affect anything, only aesthetics. Overall  I give this olive a 7, an average, because there is nothing remarkable about it.

Unknown Deli Olive #5

I just have to say, that I'm not eating only one olive every few days, these deli olive would have gone bad by now(maybe that's why they were so vinegary). I wanted to clear that up, just in case anyone was wondering. Today's olive had I flavor I couldn't quite place, it was savory  but there was something else in the mix of flavors that I just have no idea what it was. But it was good.  It had a big round pit without sharp poky edges, so for once, my mouth was safe from the evil plots of pokey kalamata olive pits.
Sorry for the bad quality of the photo, I used my iPod for it, but I do that for all my photos, so I don't know why it came out so fuzzy.  This olive had a saltiness of 6.5, just in the range of being able to taste it. It was very soft, but I think it added to the overall olive. It made it kind of wrinkled and withered looking, which made me feel kind of like I was eating an old lady olive, but that's okay. It was a sweetness of 5, Almost non existent, but there as a background flavor. Vinegariness was a 6, so not a big part of the flavor, but it was there more than the sweet parts are.It had a pretty nice size, but nothing to rave about, so it gets and 8. I have to note that it was very oily, because it was at the bottom of the container, which had oil in it. It's not a part of the actual olive, but it affected my enjoyment, so I might as well mention it. Overall, this olive was an 8, better than average.

Unknown Deli Olive #4

This olive was okay, I guess, but I don't know, it just wasn't my cup of olive brine....I mean tea. It was a little too bitter.I'm not a fan of bitter. It had a saltiness of 6.5, which is pretty good. it was firmish, and had a fairly good quality, which is a common trend in firm olives  but their was a little lumpiness  It was a fairly sweet olive, about a 6, and it was about a 6 in vinegaryness. But all that was covered by the bitterness of it, so it doesn't really matter how vinegary, sweet or salty. I also noticed that the farther I got down this dish, the olives became very oily, because they were sitting in oil. Overall, this is an average olive, about a 7. Also, this is a unpitted olive, and if you find it, beware of the sharp pit. Every one of these olives that I ate hurt my mouth.  but that's all I have to say. It's bitter with a sharp pit.

Unknown Deli Olive #3

This olive is wonderful! It is all that I could hope for in an olive. It  could pass as one of the best olives I have ever tasted. I can't even begin to describe the amazingness of this olive. It was a soft olive, and it was a very sweet, with a slight herby taste to it, which is not surprising  because all the olives I got from my friend were covered in little herb bits, and I think that was the olive bar's theme or something. It's sweetness was it's main quality, about a 7.5 out of 10. It was also very salty, I'd give it a saltiness rating of 9 out of 10. And the saltiness is one of the main factors that decides weather I like the olive or not. I don't mean to sound like a broken typewriter though, because I know that I mentioned it in my last blog. This olive was very un-vinegary, about a 3. It's quality was average, it was a little lumpy and wrinkly, but there were no splits, so it didn't really take away from the aesthetic value. I'd give it an 8 in size, and this olive was rather oily. I think that it was mostly because of the container the olives were in, as I got to the bottom, I had to wipe off more and more oil and weird little clumps of herbs. Another thing that I liked about this olive, weird as it may sound, was the pit. I enjoy sucking on the pit if i'm trying to keep myself from eating the whole jar, because it keeps my mouth occupied. With many pits, especially oblong olives, I can't do this because the ends of the pit are almost sharp. This pit was almost in a perfect circle, and it didn't have any weird flavors or textures like some pits do. I know it sounds weird, but it made me like the olive even more. This is definitively on of the best olives I have ever had the pleasure of eating.
PS. My roommate says "Hi" Again. Well, actually  she said "Hello, Hello, Hello, Hello! Oh No! Boom!" Like the quartet in ASDF 6.

Unknown Deli Olive #2

To be honest, I didn't like this olive, it just wasn't my thing. It was a savory olive, but it was far more bitter than it was savory. I was almost sour, but it's bitterness was  overpowering. I think this olive was kinda like coffee  it was an acquired taste, that I don't have. It was very firm  and tightly wrapped around the pit. I would give it a high rating for quality, but because of it's tightness, about half of the ones that I had were split, so it gets a 4. Well, I don't know if that is the actual reason, but that is my little conclusion.

Despite it's bitterness, it was actually sweet, about a 6 out of 10, but it was covered by it's bitterness. It wasn't very salty, maybe a 5, which is always a negative point for me. I love salt, as you can probably tell from my user. It was quite vinegary though, which was an interesting flavor when combined with the bitterness. Now that I think of it, I wonder if it is less flavored and salty so it tastes similar to how an un-pickled olive would taste like. But I don't really like the flavor, so it doesn't matter. It was also rather small, I'd give it a 4 out of 10. It smelled really good, and herby, and is a really pretty color of bright green, so I was exited to eat it, but it ended up disappointing me.

Unknown Deli Olive #1

Today I was eating some deli olives that a friend got for me. So I have no idea what they actually are. So this series of reviews will be about the mystery deli olives. I have to note that these olives smelled awesome. It was like the goddess of delicious smells came down to them and bestowed all her powers of amazing smells onto this little dish. Or maybe I'm to the point of liking olives so much, just smelling them makes me happy. It's probably the second. This olive was an 8 overall, I think. It was a savory olive, with an herby taste.
I'd give this olive a 9 for size, it was quite large, and in my opinion the bigger  the better. For quality, I'd say it was a 6. It was a good shape, and the skin was pulled tight, so there were no weird looking wrinkles  but a few of them had split down the side, and while this doesn't affect taste, it does take the aesthetic value down a few notches  This olive has a vinegariness of about 6.5, which I'd say is about average, you can taste it easily, but you don't really notice until you try to notice. The sweetness of this olive was about a 5, you could taste it, and it taste nicely sweet, but you had to really be trying to notice the sweetness in order to taste it. It had a great texture, i prefer firm olives, and this one was firm without being tough. I'd give this a saltiness of 8 , it was pretty salty  but I've tasted saltier. This olive was also very oily, probably a 9 out of 10. This olive was unpitted  which i think is always  a plus, because the olive hold up better. Oh, and there were little bits and peices of herbs, which made it look very fancy, but when you ate the olive, the bits and pieces got in the way. It really takes away from the experience if you have all sorts of random crap in your mouth.
